My Delightful DVD Player Story

My friends dragged me shopping the other day. It was some kind of big electronics shop, and we were just kind of looking at all the cool stuff. I wasn’t really looking to buy anything, just kind of browsing around on a Sunday afternoon. I think I remember my friend saying he wanted one of those new electric scooters or something. But when I saw what they had in stock, I was amazed.
There were these awesome DVD players, that seemed like they were portable or something. I thought you had to have a TV or some kind of monitor to plug your DVD player into. But not these amazing little pieces of advanced technology. They were kind of small, bigger than a cell phone, but smaller than a regular DVD player. Of course this included the screen also. At first I thought they wouldn’t be that great, because you would still have to plug them in.
I was brought back to bliss and happiness when I learned that these little gems can be run from batteries. And a few of these gifts from heaven can run for up to six hours on a single charge. My mind was racing with the possibilities. I could go to McDonalds, buy a hamburger, and watch the latest episodes of Lost. This was wonderful. But wait a second. Wouldn’t the sound from my DVD player bother all the people around me?
That’s when I was in for another shock. Most of these DVD players had their own headphone jack, so you could totally listen in private. Nobody around you would feel bothered. It was the perfect solution. And if you were somewhere like Starbucks or the public library, any background noise wouldn’t bother you at all. But, then my spirit sank. There would be no way a man of meager means like myself could buy one of these, which likely cost upwards of a thousand dollars.
This is where I was delivered the most startling revelation I have ever heard. Most of these were around a hundred dollars. Some were a bit more, and some were a bit less. I could probably borrow that much from my friends if I needed to. But of course, in these modern times, most stores accept major credit cards. I grabbed the best one they had and sprinted to the cashier before I changed my mind. And ever since then, me and my DVD player have been best friends.
