The Boys from Brazil (1978), starring Gregory Peck. It’s about a Nazi hunter trying to stop Nazi death-camp doctor Joseph Mengele of cloning Adolf Hitler to create a new Führer for the Nazi movement.

Blade Runner (1982), starring Harrison Ford, directed by Ridley Scott. Man has developed in the future the technology to create “replicants”, genetic engineered human clones used to serve in the colonies outside earth. When a group of them rebel and scape to earth, a retired cop who is employed to hunt down and “retire” artificial manufactured humanoids, a Blade Runner, is called to stop them.

Code 46 (2003), starring Tim Robbins and Samantha Morton. In a near possible future, a romance is doomed by genetic incompatibility.

The Island (2005), starring Ewan Mcgregor and Scarlet Johanson and Godsend (2005) starring Robert Deniro, are interesting choices on the theme too. Although I think their exploration of the implications of genetics a bit too superficial.

Great choice on Gattaca (1997), by the way. If I had to choose one film, that would be the one.

There’s The Island. It’s about cloning and using the organs of the clone for the original person if they ever need them. Kind of confusing to explain – but it’s very good.
